About Kristen
Owner / Interior Designer
Kristen Hutchins approaches every project with the same enthusiasm, creativity and endorphin-inducing verve. “Whether it’s your workplace or your home, aesthetics matter,” says the interior designer, who has been specializing in high end residential and commercial interiors since 2008.
Recognized for her unique ability to combine traditional and modern elements along with unexpected pops of color, Hutchins specializes in bold, yet attainable design. With a unique flair for mixing high-end custom pieces alongside store bought and unique vintage finds, Hutchins’ projects always flow with a cohesive harmony—whether it’s a pool house or designer retail space—right down to the final throw pillow. “It’s about mixing it up, I love helping clients showcase their personal style and really strive to give each room a distinct point of view that looks thoughtful and feels inviting,” adds the designer who has a self-professed weakness for vintage furniture. “Great spaces should feel like they took years to create, even if it was only six months of work.”
After receiving her B.S. in Business Administration, Hutchins pursued a formal design education at UCLA. Merging her background in fashion, design and business, Kristen went on to work as a senior designer for both Ruthie Sommers and Kelly Wearstler. This combination of experience and education laid the groundwork for the inception for her own successful design business and her work has been recognized by such highly regarded publications as Vogue, W, Elle, C Magazine, and LA Confidential.
She currently resides in Pacific Palisades, CA with her husband, two children, Pinky the dog and some prized finds— namely a pair of Vladimir Kagan chairs that she reupholstered in sand satin and currently sit front-and-center in the family room. “A space should lift you up, every homecoming should feel inspired.”
